Monkey Puzzle

This week we continued our focus on family by looking at the book Monkey Puzzle.

The story is about a sad little monkey who has lost his Mummy. A helpful butterfly offers to help him but the monkey’s descriptions of his Mummy never quite hit the mark until he lets the butterfly in on a tip that the butterfly didn’t realise.

Like with Handa’s Surprise last week, we looked at the characters in the story and the children learnt parts of the story. We used the family link in the story to talk about our own families, who lives in our house with us and who else is important that might live further away.

The children all came up with their own family portrait, describing who is in it, some children even told me what they were doing in the picture.

Please have a look our learning journeys to see our hard work!
