African necklaces

In year two this week we have been learning about the Maasai tribes in Africa. We have been watching videos and studying photographs to learn more about their way of life. We finished the week by making African necklaces, based on the ones that  members of the Maasai wear!


African instruments and weaving

We have been busy bees in year two this week! We have been making African musical instruments and having a go at some weaving!


Exploring instruments

This week in year two we have been exploring musical instruments. We went on an instrument hunt and then thought about where they came from, what they were made from and how they were made.


Race For Life

On Friday, all of the year two children ran 8 laps around the field! They each ran a mile in total, raising money for Cancer Research. We were all exhausted by the end but  it was so much fun!


Forest School

This week in year two we made our very own mini documentary in Forest School! We thought about what we wanted to include in our film and even managed to capture some tadpoles under water!


Visitor!

We welcomed Adrian Hall in to school on Thursday this week. He spent time in all of the key stage one classes, telling them about the time he spent in Africa! It was so interesting and we saw some fab photos.


Trust

We have started learning all about the value of Trust this half term. We built a tower of trust and discussed how quickly it could be knocked down.


Islam

In year two we have started learning about Islam this week. We learnt some important facts about the religion and made up actions to help us remember them. Can you work out what they are?


Pirate Day!!

The whole of key stage one took part in Pirate Day this week! The children attended pirate school for the day and learnt different skills needed to be a pirate. This included map reading, boat building, sword fighting and more! We even had a special pirate-themed lunch!! What a fabulous day!


Clean for the Queen!

The year two’s went out in to the local area to pick up litter for the Queen’s 90th Birthday! We found loads of rubbish which we put in to our rubbish bags! We have cleaned for the Queen!
