Referrals may come in to the team from school staff, parents and also pupils themselves.

The Pastoral Team member's role within the schools is to work with pupils and their families in identifying barriers to learning and support children in order for them to reach their full potential. This support is individual to the pupil and can take form in any area including the following;

  • Social Skills
  • Emotional Support
  • Bereavement
  • Anger Management
  • Low self esteem
  • Friendship Issues
  • Transition
  • Improving attendance

Bereavement

The pastoral team have all been trained in supporting our bereaved children and families. Support can include referring and signposting to outside agencies, making memory jars with children ,  being there to listen and to talk about any questions that children have about death, funerals/cremations and how they feel.

Honour-based Abuse

Honour-based abuse is defined as a crime or incident which has or may have been committed to protect or defend the honour of the family and / or the community. It is a collection of practices used to control behaviour and includes Forced Marriage (FM) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
