Last week, we found an interesting, very old basket that transported us back nearly 200 years to learn about the work of Florence Nightingale. We learnt all about ‘The Lady of the Lamp’: how she insisted on training as a nurse, against her parent’s wishes, how she traveled across Europe to help the soldiers injured in the Crimean War and how she cleaned up the hospitals, teaching other nurses the best way to nurse their patients back to health.
We have had a lot of fun role-playing the patients, doctors and nurses in the hospital. First cleaning then preparing healthy food and finally caring for the soldiers.
This week we had a visit from a nurse who works at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital. We learnt lots about her job as well as how nursing has changed.
